Maria is Vice-Chairman and former Chief Executive of Hand in Hand International, a development NGO that supports female entrepreneurship in India, South Africa, Swaziland, Kenya and Afghanistan.
A former Swedish Minister of Trade, Maria's commercial background includes a number of directorships with listed biotechnology, engineering and environmental companies such as Telelogic AB (now part of IBM), Sweco and Active Biotech.
A scientist by training, Maria has spent much of her working career at the interface between science and media, as a science journalist, broadcaster and producer.
